The Pantanal ecosystem is also thought to be home to 463 bird species, 269 fish species, more than 236 mammalian species, 141 reptile and amphibian species, and over 9,000 subspecies of invertebrates.
There are thirteen species of herons and egrets, six species of ibises and spoonbills, and five species of kingfishers that use the Pantanal as a breeding and feeding ground. There are nineteen species of parrots documented in the Pantanal, including five species of macaws. Some migratory birds include the American golden plover, Peregrine falcon, and the Bobolink.
Some mammals to find here are marsh deer and the giant river otter, maned wolf, the bush dog ,the South American tapir and the giant anteater ,Common species in the Pantanal include the capybara Ocelot and the yacare .
The Pantanal is home to one of the largest and healthiest jaguar (Panthera onca) populations on Earth.

We will head to this hotel located in the transpantaneira hightway ,this is a great place to see some birds like, Blue-throated Piping-Guan; Anhinga; Rufescent Tiger-Heron; Agami and Boat-billed herons; Green Ibis; Black-collared Hawk and Great Black-Hawk (the latter two offering excellent photo ops as they are now habituated to taking Orange-bellied Piranha thrown to them by the boatmen!); Ringed, Green and Amazon kingfishers,Narrow-billed Woodcreeper; Rufous and Pale-legged horneros,Purplish Jay; Thrush-like Wren; White-winged and Southern Rough-winged swallows; Silver-beaked Tanager and more.
We also have some bird feeders where we have species like Chestnut-eared Aracari; Yellow-billed Cardinal Purplish Jay; Silver-beaked Tanager; Saffron Finch; Grayish Saltator; Screaming, Shiny, Bay-winged (Grayish Baywing) etc.

This hotel is right next to the river Cuiba,has a great location ,the garden has a lot birds ,there are many palm trees where birds are feeding and here is where we will take boats upstream or downstream to look for birds and mammals including the Jaguar this is the best place in south America to see this mammal and the species of birds around here are Long-tailed Ground-Doves , Nacunda Nighthawks, Jabiru , Southern Screamer, egrets , ibises,Plumbeous ibis, Grey-headed and Snail Kites, Crane, Savanna, Black-collared, hyacinth macaw ,Southern Crested-Caracara, Yellow-headed Caracara, We shall see a good number of these birds and take time to watch them feed and flop about in the palm groves. Along the highway we should see Chestnut-bellied Guan, Chaco Chachalaca and the bizarre Bare-faced Curassow. As well as taking a boat trip in search of mammals we shall take a night drive to see Ocelot, Jaguarundi, Jaguar and Crab-eating Fox, Coatimundi and other mammals. During the day we shall also see a huge variety of birds that may include Anhinga, Muscovy Duck, Brazilian Teal, Whistling, Little Blue, Capped and Cocoi Herons.
