Itinerary

You will be picked up at approximately 8:00am and you will begin the 40 minute drive to the town of Pisac in the Sacred Valley.

Archaeologists believed the site served a defensive purpose, protecting the southern end of the valley. It was also an important agricultural sector and the terraces constructed on the steep hillside are still in use today. Another theory for its construction is that Pachacuti, for whom most archaeologists believe Machu Picchu was built, had it constructed to celebrate victory over a local ethnic group called the Cuyos. In either case it is unknown exactly when Inca Písac was built. Since it does not appear to have been inhabited by any pre-Inca civilization, estimations are that it was built no earlier than 1440.

Before heading to Ollantaytambo we will stop in the colorfull local Pisac Market and then continue through the valley,

After lunch we will visist this incredible place call Ollantaytambo  was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti, who conquered the region,   and built the town and a ceremonial center. At the time of the  Spanish conquest of Peru, it served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance. The site, with its massive stonewalls and structures, is a perfect example of masterful Inca stonemasonry and architecture. Our next stop is the Inca ruin of Qenqo with its subterranean passages and zigzagging channels carved in stone.
